MALANG – Commander of Resort Military Command (Korem) 083/Baladhika Jaya, Colonel Inf. Wahyu Ramadhanus Suryawan, S.Sos., M.M.S., M.Han., called on the younger generation to strengthen their spirit of nationalism and preserve national character amid the rapid development of information technology.
The message was delivered while leading the 118th National Awakening Day (Harkitnas) commemoration ceremony at the Korem 083/Bdj Headquarters field on Wednesday (20/5/2026). The solemn ceremony was attended by soldiers and civil servants from the Korem 083/Bdj ranks.
In the mandate of the Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, which he read during the ceremony, the Korem Commander emphasized that the nation’s future greatly depends on the quality of its younger generation—those who are able to adapt to the changing times without abandoning the values of nationalism.
“In today’s digital era, young people must be smart in receiving information and wise in using social media. Technological progress must not weaken national unity and character,” he said.
According to him, the spirit of National Awakening Day should serve as a reminder that the nation’s strength is born from unity, hard work, and concern for Indonesia’s future.
The Korem Commander also stressed the importance of building a young generation that is disciplined, ethical, and socially responsible as the foundation toward Golden Indonesia.
“We all share the responsibility of nurturing the nation’s youth so they can grow into a strong, patriotic, and high-character generation,” he added.
Through the momentum of the 118th National Awakening Day, Korem 083/Bdj remains committed to supporting youth development through programs on national insight, state defense awareness, and territorial guidance in collaboration with various elements of society. (*)
