Atambua, September 16, 2025 — The presence of the Expert Staff to the Minister for Inter-Agency Cooperation of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, Anggiat Napitupulu, at Class IIB Prison Atambua carried special significance for the Indonesia–Timor Leste border. It was not merely a visit, but a moment to directly witness how Atambua Immigration and Atambua Prison respond to the challenge of food security through a mass harvest of water spinach and the release of catfish fingerlings.
In his remarks, Anggiat Napitupulu emphasized the importance of self-reliance in border regions.
“Food security is a strategic issue for this nation. From the border, we prove that Immigration and Corrections are not only here to guard the state’s boundaries, but also to plant, harvest, and spread life. What I witnessed today in Atambua is a real form of service that gives hope,” said Anggiat.
This simple yet meaningful event demonstrated that synergy among units under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections can create programs with a direct impact on society, particularly in strengthening food security. The water spinach harvest symbolizes self-sufficiency, while the release of catfish fingerlings represents an investment in sustainability to ensure continuous food availability.
Head of Class II Immigration Office TPI Atambua, Putu Agus Eka Putra, affirmed that the visit of a senior official from the ministry serves as new encouragement to advance food security programs.
“The presence of the Minister’s Expert Staff, Mr. Anggiat Napitupulu, today is a tangible form of support for our hard work in the field. Atambua Immigration, together with Atambua Prison, is committed to ensuring that service and dedication go hand in hand. This harvest and release of fingerlings are small proofs of the greater work we are building for food security,” he explained.
Head of the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration, Arvin Gumilang, described the activity as a milestone in strengthening food security from the border region.
“This synergy is not only about food, but about showing a new face of Immigration and Corrections at the border. The presence of the Minister’s Expert Staff, Anggiat Napitupulu, signifies that what we are doing in Atambua has gained attention and even serves as inspiration for strengthening food security in other regions,” said Arvin.
Meanwhile, Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, underlined the strategic meaning of the visit for national food security.
“The visit of the Minister’s Expert Staff, Mr. Anggiat Napitupulu, to Atambua today shows that the central government is giving serious attention to the border. Immigration and Corrections are not only tasked with safeguarding sovereignty, but also serve as drivers of development. From water spinach and catfish, we send the message that the nation’s independence and food security begin at the grassroots of the border,” said Yuldi.
This event made it clear that the border is not merely a line separating nations. It is a space for life, innovation, and collaboration. The presence of Expert Staff to the Minister, Anggiat Napitupulu, affirmed the steps of Atambua Immigration and Atambua Prison, proving that service at the border always resonates widely: a strong and sovereign Indonesia in food security begins from the nation’s periphery.
